Kathleen Gonzales '96 Irene Luera '96 Jessica Luna '97 PRIDE, DETERMINATION, AND SPIRIT ... GOES A LONG WAY. The JV Cheerleaders got off to a great start this year. They took 2nd place in regional competitions, missing 1st place by one point. The girls were dis– appointed but yet happy for their placing. The regional competition placing they received allowed the girls the chance to go to Anaheim, California for the ACU national competitions. Administrators denied them the chance to compete because of the unsuccessful trip last year. Last year's trip was the first for the JV squad to go to nationals and it denied this year's squad. Again the squad was disappointed but still they went on cheering with an unbe– lievable spirit. The JV squad has been through a great amount this year. They have lost a couple of members for varying reasons but they made it through the year working around that problem. We are proud to have them repre– senting our school by showing their spirit and pride in Del Norte. I think they are an encouragement to other teams and individuals. I send my thanks out to the JV Cheerleading squad for doing their best and being a good influence on others. By Celia Chavers Audra Vigil '96 Shannon Jordan '97 )
