Courage + Determination = DNHS Girls' C.C. Team As the starting gun goes off, the Del Norte girls' cross-country team is off and running, striving for its very best. Coach John Haaland expects the best - and more out of every running at every meet. His main goal is "for each athlete to feel good about herself. To feel that each is improving and is an asset to the team and that the girls are to have fun in the process." But his best advice is "to always give it your best! Winning at a meet is a great feeling as long as there is improvement with the winning. Losing has two sides. If you have a team that is loaded with talent and they lose, that can be disappointing or have a team that is young and not very experienced, it is much easier to understand and accept losing." The girls' cross country team had a great desire to improve itself and worked hard. For their lack of ex– perience, the girls made up in their desire to become the best! Jessica Quinonez competed in the state meet and finished in 41st place! Kim Craig was a returning letterman who lettered again for the 1993 Cross Coun– try season. Other 1993 members who lettered include Jessica Quinonez, Amber Gress, Colleen Pettipiece, Tricia Slowik, Amy Sack, Tina Kholwad, and manager Nancy Hamilton. For everybody that participated, the top priorities were to develop positive attitude and to work hard in practice and to bring the improvement and the win– ning! As a result, the team came out with complete success.
