Stitches 0 c c e r "It was a fun season, and I was tired of lis– tening to the benchies complain about play– ing time." Senior Jesse Johnson Del Norte boys soc– cer made some vital changes which includ– ed a new head coach and a t eam-participat– ed accident consisting of five players, stitch– es, scratches and bro– ken bones. As much pain and suffering the players may have ex– perienced, the team overall had an exciting and memorable sea– son. The boys finished their season by beating the West Mesa Mus– tangs 3-1, who finished 3rd in state. The Knights ended the sea– son third in district, along with t hree team Senior Jon Gayer ponders on when he's going to play. Senior James Ledwilh goes for a "Volley." members who include Kevin Ledwith, Roger Martinez and Jesse Johnson finishing as 1st team all district. Another important team memher Jeff Schrant was named honorable mention in district. Jeff along with Andy Kallin, a current teammate will also be attending a summer soccer camp in the Czech Republic in July. It was a very interest– ing year for the guys, and perhaps for the blessing of a former Chile soccer player, Coach Steve Kokulis.
