Dominate, Succeed, and Win! The girls' tennis team is on the court punctually at 3:15 P.M. ready for their strenu– ous practice. Each practice begins with five laps around the tennis court and then follows up with doubles matches or drills. Drills are when the coach hits balls to an individual. First to their forehand then to their backhand. The individual Maria Johns is ready for anything in her tennis stance. Freshman Yolanda Quintana takes a break before starting her next match. then has to return the ball over the net. If they do not, the coach offers some point– ers and then they are given the next ball. It helps the be– ginner members to improve their tennis skills. The girls' tennis coach is Brian Martinez who gradu– ated from Del Norte last year. Brian is a patient and under– standing coach but makes 192 Dm1111"""m'~ Girls' Tennis ) sure his team is hard at work. "This tennis team has a good work ethic and lot of poten– tial. I'm looking forward to a fun and exciting season," said Brian. Tennis not only helps with coordination but is also a fun and challenging game. By Maria Johns
