'Backboard 13acktalk During its first decode North's varsity and Jayvee basketball teams, all coached by Jock Reutlinger, have piled up a commendable record. Alto– gether the varsity has won 111 games ond lost only 69. North's best season was '45-'46 when it amassed 1093 points to the opposition's 858 by winning sixteen and losing six games. Twice the Jayvees have been Conference champoons, forst on the '38-'39 season by winning fifteen and losing one and second in the '46-'47 season overcoming fifteen opponents and succumbong to none. Teamwork, essential to all good games, has mode possoble the outstandong records of such players as Bill Hoeppel, Bill Zinck, Don Day, Fronk LoVuolo, Paul Derzonovich, George Deuel, Tom Sutphen, Bob Day, Bob Houlihan, Fred Raeder, Harold Burns, Bill O'Donnell, Joe Barrett, Nock Homo and Bob Roche. Buck Roche, Ben Clarke, George Capwell and John Donnelly consistently played brilliant ball. The highest score was poled up when North swished 60 points into the basket to Elmora Scuthsoders' 37. Three overtime games furnished thrills galore, two of them heartbreaking defeats. After stoyong in second place throughout the season, the Redmen were pushed out of the sectional playoffs by U. E. With many veteran cagers returning, North is assured of strong varsity and Jayvee teams in 1947-'48.
