Greasepaint Pride and Prejudice Helen Jerome's play, "Pride and Prejudice," was very successfully staged by the members of the Little Theater Guild . Early nineteenth century England, at which place and time, marriage was the only possible career for women, served as a setting for this produc– tion. The plot revolved around a mother's frantic and determined efforts to marry off her three lovely but somewhat unwilling daughters and thus spare them from the shame of spinsterhood.
