Dec. 5-Johnson City The Indians got off to a fine start by push– ing J.C. to the tune of 55-35. Unaccustomed to the sf'range court, the warriors started slowly and trailed at the half-time, 21-17. This defi– cit, however, meant nothing to the boys as they came back strongly, led by the timely shots of John Donnelly, followed up with strong support from Buck Roche and Ben Clarke, who garnered 10 points each, as compared to John's 15. Dec. 12-Eimira Free Academy Again John Dannelly came through to spark the Indians in their initial home game. The Redmen had another slow start, but again they showed their superiority by scaring 22 con– secutive points during the first and second quarters. This spurt built up a lead which they never relinquished. In the scoring column it was Donnelly with 19, and Roche with 12. Dec. 19-lthaca On the road again the Indian cagesters mode it three straight by dropping the college town boys 52-41. In spite of an eye injury which forced him to leave the game in the fourth quarter, Buck Roche flipped in 12 points to aid his teammates Donnelly and Clarke, who hod 13 a piece. Dec. 20-Norwich Proving that they were not a one-man team, the warriors, minus Roche, their star forward, ron away with their first non-conference game, defeating the Purple Men of Norwich by 40 points. The big guns for the night were Clarke, Capwell and Donnelly, who hit the hoop for 16, 13 and 11 points, respectively, in the 61-21 game. Ja n. 6--Vestal After a long rest the Redmen started a strenuous week by defeating the Vestal Golden Bears 61-26. In this game the warriors dropped through 29 consecutive points, paced by Buck Roche, who made 12 points in this spurt and finished up with a total of 19 points. Ja n. 9--Central The Indians gained sweet revenge on their cross-town rivals in winning a tough 51-49 battle. The warriors, starting fast, gained a lead which they relinquished only once, in the third quarter; however, the Indians had to put out a final outburst made by the Bulldogs. High men for the night were Buck Roche and John Dannelly, who swished in 20 and 12 points respectively. Jan. 10-Hornell The after effects of the hard Central battle showed the following night as the Big Red Cagers travel to Hornell to suffer their first setback of the season to a strong quintet from that city. It was all the tired Indians could do to keep in the ball game, but nevertheless the old mainstay, Buck Roche, held the team to– gether with 26 points.
