Track [ross Country Jock Reutlinger's trackmen, opening the 1948 sea– son, added another feather to their chief's headdress by capturing the Section Four Annual Relay Meet. Proving themselves to be a well balanced team, the Indians, though taking only one first place, rolled up twenty-one points as compared with the thirteen counters gained by the second place team, Johnson City. Placing in all seven events, the Warriors won the distance medley, took second place in the 440-yd. re– lay, the mile relay, the 880-yd. relay, and the two– mile relay, and third place in the shuttle hurdles and the sprint medley. Keeping olive their record of not having lost a dual meet since 1945 the North Trackmen defeated John– son City 582/3 to 45 1 13. Jerry Hanifin was the big gun, taking first place in the 220 and brood jump and help– ing win the relay. The other blue ribbon winners for North were Ben Clarke in the pole vault, Bill Dein– hordt in the shot put, George Hall throwing the discus and Nick Petro, who copped the hurdle race. Page Soxty-Sox Continuing to dominate the field of hill and dole runners, the North Cross Country team climaxed a successfu, season by walking away with the Sec– tion IV NYSPHSAA Cross Countr~ Meet. Sparked by the brilliant running of Bud Show and Ed Paden, the North Harriers swept by almost all the oppo· sition to bring great glory to North. In the Section IV Meet it was Show, Palen, Rasmussin, Wiltsie and Beau– dette who furnished the winn1ng mor gin . However, the other members of the squad deserve much credit for the~r hard work . Those who received letters were Shaw, Paden, Rosmussin, Kilmer, Wiltsie and Beaudette. BELOW, TRACK: Eddie Paden ond Roy Show show the strain of practice for the next meet.
