REDEDICATION WEEK A specially designated week in November '47 brought to the attention of every freedom-minded individual the fact that homage must be paid to the memory of those who gave their all to assure us of permanent peace, and so it was that our community, with the aid of the different schools, adopted a carefully planned program in celebration of Rededication Week. The city was adorned with posters announcing the arrival of the Freedom Train; schoolteachers were kept busy teaching their students a new Pledge, the purpose of which was to re– affirm the Pledge of Allegiance which we know so well, and rattle off without careful consideration; radio stations day and night urged their listeners to reserve a little time for thought since their forefathers spent so much time fighting for the leisure which is part of our daily practice. Early in the morning of November 9, 1947, the train pulled into the station to be welcomed by eager citizens who had been waiting in the cold dawn for their first sight of famous historical documents of which they had heard so much in the past. This experience may not have made good men from evil, or changed anyone's mode of life, but it did serve its purpose in this one respect, that it opened our eyes and hearts to an ideal which has survived many a war and depression to make us a notion envied by all.
