We, the Wampum Staff of 1955, take pride in dedicating our yearbook toW. Richard McCutchan, leader of our band and of our orchestra, faculty adyisor of Student Council and of cheerleaders, friend and teacher to all. Born in Illinois, Mr. McCutchan received his grade and high school education in West Virginia after which he received a B.S. at Ohio University; M.A. at New York University, and did graduate study at Columbia University, Temple University, East– man School of Music, and Cornell University. Membership in Phi Mu Alpha, national honorary music fraternity; Theta Chi, social fraternity; and Phi Delta Kappa, professional educational fraternity are among the many honors he has received. While at New York University, he composed "Prelude and Fugue in A Minor" chosen for performance at Carnegie Hall. Traveling and camping serve as Mr. McCutchan's hobbies. He enjoys making im– provements on his new home with the help of his teenage son, Garret, and his wife, Eleanor. It is with sincere appreciation that we dedicate our efforts to this versatile man who seems to "wear the red and blue chip on his shoulder" with great pride and purpose. Page 6
