"All in favor of the proposed motion say Aye." "Aye, Aye, Aye." ... "Motion Carried!" Where have we heard this before? Now don't say it•....We know...•. In Stu– dent Council! Your Student Council was organized for the purpose of satisfying student demands, ironing out student problems and for creating new ideas which will please the student body at large. The Student Coun– cil represents democracy among the stu– dents of North. It helps to develop student responsibility, initiative, self-control and leadership, and it also aids in building school spirit. A main influence of Student Council is that it has provided effective training in citizenship through student participation in model government. This year the Student Council has had two large goals. The first was to complete a North High Handbook. The second is to promote the American Field Service pro– gram of exchange students with Europe and South America. The Handbook has reached completion. Our second goal is still in the making. It will probably take three years to complete it and have a program such as this at North. Page 88
