FALL OFFICERS - Joseph Gilmore, Judy Gevert, \ary louise King, and Robert McDevitt. The good ship "North" wouldn't be sailing so smooth– ly if it weren't for our amiable and capable student council. "All hands on deck, 11 calls the representative from each homeroom to meet with the officers and ad– visors to discuss money-raising campaigns, ideas for improvement of the ship, and to select assemblies for our entertainment. This gives each student a chance to "sound off" and express his ideas through the medium of his homeroom representative. When the reserve in the vaults began to dwindle, our student government came up with a new idea for re– placing it. A commlttee constructed and edited a "sea– men's 11 handbook entitled the "Teepee" for which everyone had to bai I out twenty-five cents. North's council was host to the Southern Tier Inter– scholastic conference where nine different vessels were represented on our decks. Our crew isn't the only one which has problems. The other ships were also found to be concerned about ship-spirit, money-raising projects, efficient spending of funds and equitable contributions to charities. So, whether it is a good paid assembly, benches on which to rest our weary sealegs outside of school, or a milk and ice cream stand, let's give a salute to our Student Counc l I. Page 88
