Chenango Forks High School 1971 Yearbook (Chenango Bridge, NY) - Full Access

From the desk of the Editor: Compiling countless photographs and sentiments to form a worthwhile and coherent yearbook is a monumen– tal task which involves many people and much effort. We owe an especial thanks to Paul Meddleton, our fearless advisor, who somehow survived the year, losing only his self-control and his voice. Our appreciation goes to Varden Studios for senior informal pictures and group shots, and to Prestwood Stu– dios for giving us a percentaQe on underclassman pictures. We'd also like to thank Taylor Publishing Company, especially our loca·l representative, Bob Mcfadden, who managed to keep a straight face even when we chose a P.urple cover. Tuthill's Photographic Supply Center deserves an emphatic thanks for having such patience with our unpaid bills. We are grateful to the members of our staff who sacrificed their originality and their lunch periods. Tom Hellerud worked his way into our hearts by producing an excellent sports section. We thank Barb Code, our Senior Editor, and Nancy Cuykendall, Organizations Editor. It's too bad that the seniors weren't more organized. We'd like to thank Mike West, Assistant Sports Editor, and Mike Moriarity, photographer, for consistently call– ing our editor "Chief," which made her feel important. Our gratitude goes to Alan Lynch, on the sports staff, for being cute and capitalizing on it while selling year– book subscriptions. We are grateful to Deb Titus and Sharon Howard, who demonstrated both ability and improvement in the in– troduction section. Toward the end of the year, Deb was miscropping only one out of three pictures. We want to thank our photographers, Bob lescoult and Joe Hronek, wherever they were when we really needed them. Koren Eikenberry, our materialistic Business Manager, endeared herself to us by providing a sympathetic ear in the girls ' locker room during sixty period gym class. Underclosses Editor, John Vasko and faculty Editor Chris Mozursky ore remembered for their quiet dissent. And we ore grateful to our assorted odd-jobbers Colly Krager, Anna Cruty, Vanessa Verhoeven, Judy Web– ster, Cathy Keller, and Cheryl Verhoeven, who helped us immensely by constantly asking for something to do. We also appreciate Gerry Taylor, Don Phillips, Et Pruitt, and fred Champion for creating the essays for our di– vider pages. We'd like to thank our advertisers for getting us out of bed on Saturday mornings, and for making it all possi– ble. We are grateful to Mr. Youngstrom for unlocking the dark room once in a while, and for not complaining too much about the condition of the room. Our appreciation goes to Mr. Paul f. Meddleton and to Mr. and Mrs. George Malchak for the use of their po- laroid cameros. We thank Gayle Cary for her interest. We're grateful to Mr. Lescault for the use of his dark room, and his strobe. And for letting Bob join the staff. Our thanks go to the Junior High coaches for not keeping records. We appreciate the many efforts of Mrs. Jane Tucker for trying to keep our books straight. And we thank Mrs. Rossman for telling us when the busses had left. Our sincere thanks go to Mr. Corroccio for the extra desk and cabinet. They made us look more organized. We're grateful to Mr. Turna who made sure that our photographers had corridor passes, as well as checking up on us to make sure that we were still there. We owe a hearty thanks to the blizzard on March 3 and 4 for cancelling our dance pages. We appreciate anyone who happened to be in room 117 to help caption pictures. Our appreciation goes to the members of the School Board for wearing ties. We are grateful to all those members of the Senior Class for not handing in quotes, which made typing up the pages much easier. We thank the makers of NoDoz and Cope for helping us to meet our deadlines. And we thank Bob Dylan for providing us with background music to crop by. Maryett Malchak, Editor-in-Chief I'd like to personally thank Brett Linn, George Thomas, Art Ellis, and Brad Volkert for collectively providing enough cynicism to finally convince me that I couldn't save the world with this yearbook. 181
