Stanton, Coach McDaniels This year has been an exceptional one for Chenango Valley's Cross Country Team, coached by Mr. fv\cDaniel. The team com– peted in eight meets, one of them being a Chenango Valley invitational. The schools that attended were Windsor, Maine– Endwell, and Chenango Forks; Chenango Valley took first place. The Cross Country team olso became the Section Cross Country Champions over competing schools such as Vestal, North, and Owego. A Cross Country Course record of 14:35.5 was made by Dick Lampman. Dick also became the New York State Cross Country Champion. To end a very good year, the team took fourth place in the state finals. ROW ONE: Left to Right, D. Reece, D. Stanton, R. Lalley, P. Caughey Among the most outstanding organizations of Chenango Valley is the Varsity Club, a service organ– ization composed of only those athletes who have earned at least one letter in a varsity inter– scholastic sport. Some of the activities undertaken this year were the revision of standards for varsity-letter awards in every sport. At Christmas time the members sold cards and wrapping paper as a money-raising project. The club had its annual sports picnic at the end of the school year for all varsity and junior athletes. The club is extremely active under the cooperative supervision of its advisor Mr. Robert McDaniels.
