To restore Mary to her rightful position, Pope Pius XII chose as the crowning achievement of his pontificate the solemn promulgation of this doctrine. On November 1, 1950, seated in formal consistory with members of the hierarchy, the Holy Father added with reverent love this last jewel to the glorious diadem of the Mother of God. 5
