Uj. Jlave J3uilt a Atonument Atore J:.a3ting Uhan J3ronze." Four years have oassed since we, the class of 1955, first entered the Elmira Free Academy-four years in which our every action has been based, perhaps unconsciously, on four words written by a Latin poet: "Exegi Monumentum Aere Perennius." "I have built a monument more lasting than bronze." During the high school years we have built a monument to last a lifetime-a monument of education, friendship, and experience. In the classroom or on the athletic field, on the stage or in the club room, we h.we been steadily building our minds and bodies for the future. Now, that future is nearly upon us, and we must leave familiar scenes and cherished friends. Yet we will always look back on our Alma Mater with a certain nostalgia, and with gratitude to the principals and the teachers who have given us the power with which to raise our monument even higher. 2
