Elmira Free Academy High School 1962 Yearbook (Elmira, NY) - Guest Access

Headed by Our Devoted Principal TO THE CLASS OF 1962: It was the homespun humorist-philosopher Will Rogers who said, "The schools ain't what they used to be-and they never was." What he meant, of course, is that we often in later years glorify the good old days without any clear basis of comparison with the present. Certainly your high school curriculum has been much more refined and extended than past courses of study. You have been required to learn and understand more simply because there is so much more to be learned. In the natural and social sciences alone, the spread of our knowledge in the past few decades has been enormous. In turn, when you send your children to school, try to think of their schools positively and constructively, remembering the old saying: "Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis." KENNETH L.
