The Class of 1962 presents the TORCH Elmira Free Academy Elmira, New York Kenneth S. Weaver, Principal 1

Dear to us always, This school and all its walls, Thou'lt ever with us stay, Fair E. F. A. When we are gone from thee, Still thou shalt ever be, Fairest on land and sea, Dear E. F. A. Our hearts may well grieve, So soon to part from thee, But dear old school, believe, We're true always. True hearts and friends well-met Thy charms are with us yet, Nor can we e'er forget Fair E. F .A. 2

We Honor With sincere admiration and respect, we, the class of 1962, dedicate this TORCH to Mrs. Anne Miller and Mr. Brian Hoolihan. As our class advisers, they have shown a genuine interest in our affairs. They have been sympathetic and understanding of the problems confronting us and have unselfishly given of their time and energy. We shall remember them always with affectionate esteem. 3

Now we anticipate entering into a new realm of life and learning. Headed by Our Devoted Principal TO THE CLASS OF 1962: It was the homespun humorist-philosopher Will Rogers who said, "The schools ain't what they used to be-and they never was." What he meant, of course, is that we often in later years glorify the good old days without any clear basis of comparison with the present. Certainly your high school curriculum has been much more refined and extended than past courses of study. You have been required to learn and understand more simply because there is so much more to be learned. In the natural and social sciences alone, the spread of our knowledge in the past few decades has been enormous. In turn, when you send your children to school, try to think of their schools positively and constructively, remembering the old saying: "Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis." KENNETH L. WEAVER 6
