O 'Connor, Mr. Bonnell, Coach. The Cross Country team opened its season at the Solvay Invitational competing with 18 schools. Cazenovia took first place with 62 points and Norwich came in fourth with a team total of 118. Of the 98 boys running in the race Jack Dickinson placed eighth. The next meet was at Greene. Greene gave the Norwich runners a trouncing with a team score of 17 to 38. Norwich then was host to Oneonta, Herkimer, and Sherburne. Norwich took first place with a team total of39 points , and Dave Windsor placing first, set a new course record of 12:56. At De Ruyter, Norwich placed second among the competing teams. Again a strong Cazenovia team took first place. In the runners, Jack Dickinson placed second with one of his finest performances of the season. An inspired and improved team then ran in the invitational at Cincinnatus and placed third among thecompetingteams. Ithacaplacedfirstwith 89 points, Greene and CBA tied for second with 92 points, and Norwich totaled 111 points. The Sectionals were held at Baldwinsville. Norwich placed fourth for Class B. Dave Windsor placed seventh and Jack Dickinson placed eleventh for the Oass B runners.
