As a means of enriching the lives of our Latin scholars, members of the Caesar, Cicero, and Virgil classes met on the first Thursday of every month. At these meetings guests spoke on such subjects as archeology and the history of such cities as: Capri, Rome, Naples, and Pompeii. With Christmas came the "Saturnalia" which is a festive occasion similar to our Christmas. In addition to the usual feasting and gift exchange, a few of the members portrayed a Roman family much to the amusement of the rest. \ In March, in remembrance of the death of Julius Caesar, these scholars again honored the ancient Roman customs. This time it was a Roman Banquet. Each member dressed in costumes similar to those of early Ro– man d~ys and enjoyed a typical Roman meal.
