THE STUDE NT COUNCIL CARRIED its demo– cratic action and goodwi II throughout the school and beyond. The counc i I sponsored the pre– paration of Red Cross scrapbooks, illustrating American school life, to be sent to European countries. Eve Ojala, our Estonian foster child now living in Germany, received several CARE packages and letters from Brighton's students. Right around home, the Student Counci I brought the "B"-Hive, Brighton's youth center at the town hall, into existence and continued sponsoring record dances after basketball games. Among other projects was the treating of the entire student body to a performance of the fall dramatic production, "Tiger House", and decorating for the annual Kiwanis Hallow– e'en dance. Deciding thot last year's student ticket was not practical, the council discarded it and worked out a new ticket plan, to be put into use next year. Not to be outdone by last year's council, this year's members conducted the big money making Student Council Fair, and the annual spring dance. Pete Heinrich filmed scenes of BHS life for the counci !-sponsored school movie, starring Gai I Panfiel and Phi I Nader. To help stimulate school spirit, the counc i I aided in setting up pep ra Ilies and printed copies of cheers and the alma mater. Counci I mem– bersservedasstudentguides, along with upper– classmen volunteers. led by Rob Trost, president; Bob Critchley, vice-president; Jane Roudabush, secretory; Ethel Potter, treasurer, and adviser Francis Davies, the counci I became a member of the National Association of Student Councils. ;t)emocrac'J Yn Aclion 1 Seniors who headed or ser– ved on various steering com– mittees are: Painter, Thol– strup, Balling, Peters and Liebschutz. ABSENT: Hecht. The cotton candy man, famous with all fairgoers, is over-powered by Stu– dent Council supporters.
