The year of sports showed many outcomes. The football team showed much spirit in beating rivals Vestal and U.E. The soccer team won the Section IV championship. The swim team had another outstanding season and the varsity lacrosse had a superb season. Womens sports in the high school is very compet– itive and can be very exciting to watch. The student body showed much more school spirit this year by coming out and supporting their teams. The normal pep rally in H-courtyard moved to the gym in the afternoon to involve more student participation. The old tradition of a bonfire pep rally was returned on homecoming weekend. The Marching Uttle Red was a big support in the school spirit. The band this year was invited to per– form at a Buffalo Bills football game. ew clubs were formed and participation in the clubs showed an improvement. The Ski Club, Diplomats, and those involved in Outing Club led the school in the most popular clubs. Social clubs and Athletic events show that student parti– cipation is on the uprise in the high school. Mrs. Mintz again heads the interesting and educational Humanities program with a theme this year of "Serendipity". The program has helped to join the school with the community through its varied programs. In fund raising projects this year clubs cornered the market on FOOD. Food is always a big seller at any time during the day. Between bagels, donuts, and candy there is always something to please your sweet tooth. The Tattler became the high schools own enjoyable monthly. The variety of articles is always very useful. Dramatics club put on two plays this year. Arsenic and Old Lace in the fall which went over very well and Godspell in the spring was a great success. The Sophomore class sold seasonal food around the school at different times of the year. They also gave baskets of food at Thanksgiving time. The Junior class is sponsoring a child in Kentucky and hope to bring her to Ithaca for their grad– uation. Dances were profitable and fun for all of the classes. The Student Associ– ation sponsored a dance where all the proceeds went to the United Way. The Senior class runs the snack bar and has great responsibility in maintaining the upkeep of activities. The members of the A NUAL staff hope that this book can provide pleasant memories of the past and hope to carry thru the spirit, education, and experience we all shared together at Ithaca High School and will last in the future as a favor– ite part of your life. Every man's life lies within the present; for the past is spent and done with, and the future is uncertain. Marcus Antoninus 7
