Ithaca High School 1977 Yearbook (Ithaca, NY) - Full Access

• Dedicatiolf Health to the trees! For this A AL of 1977 is dedicated to the trees. And with good reason the makers of this yearbook owe the trees of the world a great debt. Trees have toppled so that faces may glimmer like nickels on these paper pages. Without these sturdy explosions of grace, there would literally be no A UAL. So we thank you, trees, for your paper. And we thank you, too, for your beauty. Just as the awesome simplicity of a tree has inspired poets and artists, so has it served as inspiration for this year's A AL Staff. Indeed, the tree is a very apt symbol for a yearbook. There are strong similarities. The shining faces that dot these pages are like leaves covering a long branch. A tree bears fresh leaves each year; the A UAL is also a cycle. And the many branches of a tree come together in a single trunk, just as 1800 students combine to make this one yearbook. So then, by this dedication, we at the AN UAL would like to express our appreci– ation, gratitude, and respect for those towers of greenery around the school, the city, and the world. by Surface Proust, Class of '77 3
