Kingston High School 1965 Yearbook (Kingston, NY) - Full Access
The Lively Arts Club is a symbol of freedom, freedom for artistic expression, to the students of Kingston High School. Perhaps the only club whose membership is open to the en– tire school, Lively Arts acts as a springboard for the ideas of an energetic student body. Art appreciation is the motive and true creativity is the goal of the Lively Arts Club. The club, as the cultural heart of our school, has broadened its horizons in hopes that not only its members but also each individual in the student body will gain knowledge, interest, and appreciation of the existing art forms of today. Reason tmd Rhyme} the literary magazine of Kingston High School, offers students an opportunity to display creative writ– ing skills. Central to any academic institution is its complete depend– ence upon intellectual freedom, that freedom to explore the new and re-examine the old. The purpose of the artist is then, not to answer questions; it is, rather to ask them. This is the major purpose of Reason and Rhyme; it is an attempt to give form and meaning to those questions and prob– lems which lie at the root of all existence. This can be ac– complished only through complete intellectual honesty. The following were written by two Kingston High School semors. 153
