Yorktown High School 1962 Yearbook (Yorktown, NY) - Full Access

Mildred Strong, Clarence Murphy, Fred DeFiovis, Bertha Smith, Hugh Davies, Ellis Snyder, Pam Levin. Few students are actively aware of this behind-the-scenes group of energetic local citizens who give so freely of their time and efforts to the continued high standing and progress of education in Yorktown. This year they have been involved in the opening of a new high school and grammar school which many students take for granted. How many of us realize the problems of contracts, building materials, and new equipment which are necessitated by these moves? Besides dealing with such matters, the board must keep in mind changes in curriculum, new academic procedures, and general educational policy for three thousand students in a time of great national turmoil. It must seek unendingly for ways to finance these improvements for Yorktown's already highly rated educational system. Their jobs are never finished. In 1961-62, perhaps more than at any other time, the students at YHS should feel indebted deeply to these public minded people.
