Chaminade HS 1963 Yearbook (Dayton, OH) - Full Access

classes Gleefully, hesitantly, the class of '63 made great strides toward maturity as they prayed, learned and socialized in their last year at Chaminade. An out– standing class, the seniors boast four military aca– demy appointments. John Mikula will spend four years at West Point; Mike T.oombs, Mike Gauger and Jerry Wenner received appointments to the Air Force Academy, making Chaminade the only school in the nation having three seniors going to the academy in Denver. The junior class, led by a dynamic president, con– tributed valuable manpower to the debate team and editorial staffs of the school's publications. The class of '64 made a most impressive contribution on the Eagles' state runner-up cross country team. The underclassmen took the lead, as usual, in the fund raising efforts, finishing first and second in the Bishops' Relief Fund and the Spring Festival Drive. The sophomore class proved that the old Eagle spirit was anything but dead, as they en– thusiastically backed all school sponsored activities. The shy frosh soon learned to accept the pace of high school and ran a little timidly at first, to gain their share of the laurels.
