WILSON OLYMPIC9
Every four years, thousands of great
amateur athletes from the nations of the
world compete in a gigantic sports show
called the Olympic Games. No other
sports spectacle has a background so
historic, dramatic, or thrilling.
Flags flutter from the top of a crowd–
filled stadium . Cheers ring out as
a swift runner carries a blazing torch
into the arena to light the Olympic
flame. The lighted torch has been
brought many miles from Elis, Greece
where the games began 2, 500 years ago.
We, as seniors, have now carried
the Torch of Wilson High School for
four years. It is time for us to light the
fires of resourcefulness and ingenuity.
Just as the Olympic Games develop the
whole man , it has been the prime ob–
jective of Wilson High School to build
the men and women of tomorrow from
the youth of today. As we prepare to
enter the threshhold of life, we are
equipped with an education, not only of
the history and fundamentals of our
civilization, but of an understanding of
our fellow man .
