as outstanding figures in the senior class ~----- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Cindy Snyder, a 1976 gra– duate of O)R, has spent the past year studying in Brazil as a Rotary excfian~e stu– dent. Quickly mastering the Portuguese language, she found herself amidst sunny people and weather. Swim– min8 and barbecuing on Chnstmas Eve was only one advantage of living in Bra– zil. Although she missed her American friends, Cin– dy vows that someday she will return to Brazil. This year, john Zeglen, a member of the senior class 1 became an exchange student to Bolivia. A rormer French student to be sent to a Spanish speaking country is quite an experience. However, John overcame the language barrier and also adapted to his new life befow the equator. Uving in LaPaz, Zeg stayed with several different families, includ– ing that of Bolivia's ex-president. It did not take him long to find that despite the differ– ences in culture and language, in some ways people around the world are basically the same as we are. There are people who laugh, people who cry, and people who John oe– veloped great feelings for. Leaving his new home, john will miss these new friends as much as we have missed him this year.
