Pltusical tducation To improve the physical fitness of all students, Red– stone enriched the physical education program. Its aim is to develop the physical, mental, and social character of elch student. Capable instructors, Mrs. Ellen White, Mr. Norman Peretti, and Mr. Joseph Balabon, strive to help youths attain these goals. Conducting classes in the gym and new physical fitness room, teachers supervise seventh to rwelfth graders who utilize new apparatus: peg boards, weights, parallel bars, and chinning bars. This equipment en:~bles youths to improve muscular strength, physical co-ordination and endurance. Enriching the physical fitness program, extension classes provide interested students with the opportunity to learn to swim, bowl, golf, water ski, and ice-skate. Thus, the program performs community service for it teaches worthy use of leisure time. Physical education plays an important role in one's everyday life. Sound mind and body means well-adjusted individuals. Plato's statement, "Physical fitness and men– tal fitness go hand in hand," characterizes the "World of learning" at Redstone. plt!fsical fitness program Boys and girls develop habits of fair play and sportsmanship. Tumblins and .tcrobatic exercises de-.elop musclts and insure physical fitness. Under }.Irs. Brachna and Mrs. White's supervision during physical education extension classes, Redstonians learn correct bowling form. 97
