Proceeds from fund-raising projects were used for the purchase of new equipment in the commercial department. Stri\'ing for grelter efficiency. the girls performed secretarial duties for administrators and faculty. When Mr. William White, Gregg Publishing Com– pany representati,·e, \'isited Redstone, he ga\'e all an opportunity to display their shorthand-transcription effic•ency. He dictated a letter at 90 words a minute; Ruth Punjock, who transcribed the letter with the least errors, recei\'ed the "Standard Handbook for Secretaries."
