Contemplation Marian Folk, '57 I sit at my window and I ee the world. I see the street bustling with hur– rying throngs; I see children playing, men working, women shopping; I ee moke, the ever-present ign of industry; I see the h aven, majestic m its vastnes . I sit at my window and I know th world. I know every per on, every idea, every thought; I know why there happines I know why there IS <Yrief. I sit at my window and I am the world; I am every living thing every crea– ture who ever breathed ; I am all that there is to be. I sit at my window and I do e my eyes. I see God. Mary Levy, '57 DECEMBER, 1956 REWARD Theodore Jadick, '57 The perfect solution to a persistent problem Another vacation ea on w a coming to an end a the BarT dude ranch prepared for the Ia t group of summer tourists. Hank and Slim the ranch guides, had ju t reported to Mr. Carter, the proprietor, for their in tructions concerning the Ia t week's work. It was then that Mr. Carter delivered the ad news in– forming the guides that Mr. orneli– us P. Winters the bu ine tycoon from Bo ton wa coming to pend th week. Recalling past experiences with this man the two ranch hand groaned in resentment. Mr. Carter immediately retaliated and aid, 'You men don't r aliz the value of good bu ines . Mr. arter i very . . . well ... he' not such a bad man to work with. Now clean Peter Payne, '57 Hank left for the railroad station to pick up the dude . After everyone di embarked from the train and mounted the ranch wagon out came the formidable orneliu Winter . He wa in the proce of peaking to the conductor about the inadequa– cies of the line. It wa clearly audible to all a he said, ' Conductor, that wa the wor t train ride I ever had! The service I r ceived wa awful and your facilitie deplorable. I'll write to the presi– dent of the line about thi and in– form him of the ruin of his line by the like of you." A he walked to the wagon he grumbled "Huh, arne old ranch hands. I wonder why Old arter up the cabin and water the horse . do sn't make mor change ." The newcomer will b here in the morning." The two men left the room with th ir head droopin()' in despair. Th rest of the day wa quiet as all the ranch hands thought ahead to a week of torture. On the fatal day The trip back to the ranch wa agomzmg a Winters picked un– mercifully at minor defect in the ranch and it admini tration. The fir t activity cheduled for that day wa dinner.
