Rob on led the team to a commendable record of eight victorie again t two defeat . A de– tailed account of each contest fol– lows. ENTRAL 28 JESSUP 6. In– augurating the 1956 pig kin eason again t the Green Wave of Jesup, the Golden Eagles howed great promise as they rolled to an easy victory at Jessup Memorial Stadium. The Blue and Gold cored once in each of the first two periods with John Chisdak and Pat Fruehan re– ceiving credit for the markers. In the econd p riod hi dak in– tercepted a J e sup aerial and re– turned it to the Green Wave 29. Here Ken Wanda!ow ki chalked up the third pay-dirt run, slicing ofT right guard. The final entral marker came midway in the third period, with fullback John Chi dak hauling in a Jessup punt and romp– ing 36 yards for the touchdown. J up's lone 6 pointer came on a pa interception late in the con– test. CENTRAL 26, SAYRE 7. The Golden Eagles racked up their econd victory in a many tarts at the expen e of the Red kin of Sayre DECEMBER, 1956 Peter Payne, '57 High chool. B fore 2,000 fan at the Lockhart treet Bowl the Blue and Gold cored four time to their opponents' one in what was a much clo er encounter than pre iously in– dicated. Moments after the kick-off the Rob onmen capitalized on a Red– skin fumble and scored on a Mur– ray-to-Fruehan aerial combination. Chisdak placekicked the extra point. Sayre retaliated immediately with shifty ignal-caller Roger White heaving the pig kin to end Harold Brown for the score. White ran for the point-after-touchdown. With the start of the fourth quarter, Chisdak sma h d into the endzone to culminate a powerful Blue and Gold offen ive. The con– ver ion attempt failed. Anoth r score wa achieved minute later a Chi dak again cro sed over the goal. The final T.D. wa added on a Murray-to-Fruehan pa with ec– onds remaining in the tilt. hi dak booted the 26th point. CENTRAL 19 BLAKELY 0. In their fir t home appearance at Me– morial Stadium the Blue and Gold oundly trounced the Blakely Bears 19-0. A crowd of 1,000 fan witne ed tackle John Kane recover a B ar fumbl that purred the Golden Eagle to their fir t touchdown drive. A 33 yard pa play from Jo Murray to Keith Krayer accounted for the tally. hi dak' placement put the entralite into a 7-0 lead. The remaining two touchdown scored were regi tered by John Chi - dak on runs from nine and three yards out. Both conver ion attempts were mis ed. Blue and Gold linemen proved their defen i\'e ability by mothering all the Bear ' scoring bid . ENTRAL 13 0 TH ATHO– LIC 7. The high-flying Eagle el ven po ted th ir fourth win by downing the Don of outh Catho– lic, who unexpectedly maintaint;d a tubborn line and alert econdmy entralite tallied both time· in the fir t quarter with end Bob Kran– ick pouncing on a Keith Krayer fumbl for the fir t tally while .Co– aptain Pat Fru han recover~d a outh fumbl for the ccond core. hi dak wa ucce ful only on the la t extra-point bid. The South Sider cored late_ in th second period wh n Bob D vine, a peedy Don halfback nagged a entral pa in the flat and treaked 80 yards for the touchdown. The run for the extra point rounded out the night' coring. ENTRAL 14, WEST 39. The Golden Eagle met by an arou ed Invader quad, 'lo t all ·hope of any conference champion hip after being routed by Wet Scranton 39-14 at Memorial tadium. West, led by All- cholastic quarterback Donnie Jona who cored three time and kicked three extra point , completely outplayed th Eagle throughout the game. Jona cored on run of 6 2 and 17 yard .
