Baseball Individuals-As Candids Francis Krakoskv. Pitcher; George Butsavage, Shortstop; John Kolesar, Second Base; Bernard Volack, Catcher; Robert Tomshaw, Third Base; Stanley Gowisnak, First Base. Baseball Swoyerville's prospects look good this year as they have five men back from last year's squad. The boys that are back are: Gowis– nock, First Base; Kolesar, Second Base; Ton– shaw, Short Stop; Butsavage, Third Base; Krakowsky, Pitcher. The coaching job will be handled by Ed– ward Chiampi and John Yonkondy. Practice has begun and thirty-two candidates have ap– plied for a position on the team. The season officially opened on April 29. Swoyerville won the National Division and 40 Valley Championship Pennant for 1945. As a reward for their efforts in the field of sports the football, basketball, and base– ball teams went on a weekend trip to Phila– delphia in the latter part of March. While at Philadelphia they witnessed the State Championship Basketball game between Al– lentown and Homestead. We, the class of 1946, sincerely wish the best of success to the future athletes of Swoy– erville High School. VoLUME VI, No. 1.
