CLASS HISTORY Four years ago on a sunny September morning, a group of bewildered Freshmen met with Mr. Paul Cerwonka, advisor, and elected Gordon Rocke– feller, President; Phyllis Pierson, Vice President; Fayne Bomboy, Secretary; and Jean Baldwin, Treasurer. During the year we had a theater and roller skating party, raffles, and food sales. During our Sophomore year our class raised additional funds for our future needs by having food sales in the homemaking room and a dance at Hitchcock's Barn. At this time our class was saddened by the death of John Owen. Class officers were: President, Phyllis Pierson; Vice President, Seldon Whispell; Secretary, Jean Baldwin; and Treasurer, Eldred Hitchcock. In our Junior year with our President, David Shadduck; Vice President, Vilroy Smith; Secretary, Audrey Kocher; and Treasurer, Phyllis Pierson, we entertained the Seniors with a Junior-Senior Banquet. Money making activities included a dance at Montrose and at Hitchcock's Barn. We received our class rings which had "Elk Lake" on them for the first time. Many from this class participated in joint baseball and basketball, In our last year of high school with Mr. Cerwonka as advisor, the following served as class officers: Eldred Hitchcock, President; Vilroy Smith, Vice Presi– dent; Audrey Kocher, Secretary; and Lorraine Graham, Treasurer. Our many activities during this year included a senior dance at Montrose, publication of "The Pioneer," rifle raffle, candy sales, a wonderful trip to Washington, Class Night, Junior-Senior Prom, Baccalaureate services and finally, Commencement.
