30 Gary Wishard David Woods Richard Zweig Seniors Remember • • • ... Footsteps - shuffling up the stairs, pounding into the class- rooms, stamping on the bleachers, fading into quietness. Why be con- cerned about footsteps? Footsteps were indeed vital to the seniors of WHS. When the typical upperclassman di:-1 not have his "foot in his mouth," he found it had other uses which were much more beneficial. For instance, what would Ki-Yi Day have been without the footsteps of the marchers and the bands and the royalty? How exquisite would the Tuck Formal and the Prom have been without the footsteps of the dancers? How impres- sive would the grand finale of Ki-Yi Kapers have been without the foot- steps of the multitudinous cast winding its way to the stage to sing "Ki-Yi Kapers is over"? How fabulous would the winter and spring music con- certs have been without the footsteps of the choristers mounting the risers? How successful would the Teens Against Polio Drive and the Heart Sunday Canvass have been without the willing footsteps of the student volunteers? Finally, how stirring would the graduation ceremonies have been without the footsteps of the seniors marching to the strains of "Pomp and Circumstance"? Yes, footsteps played an important role in the lives of the seniors of WHS. Even though the footsteps have left the halls of the old school in a mellow quietness, the impression of these footsteps will always be imprinted upon the memories of the seniors of '62. These impressions will guide the seniors on to new and more glorious footsteps - the giant steps of life.
