78 Juniors Sponsor Approximately sixty WHS students con- tributed their talent in the all-school produc- tion of Noel Coward's BLITHE SPIRIT. The play, a sophisticated comedy with a British touch, dealt with the supernatural occur- rences in the life of an author, Charles Con- domine. As the play opened Condomine was haunted by the spirit of his first wife, Elvira. The plot thickened as Elvira killed Con- domine's second wife whose spirit also haunted him. Madame Arcati, a seance artist, made frequent contacts with the spirits much to the amazement of the maid BLITHE SPIRIT Edith and the family friends, the Bradmans. The play ended when Condomine finally ridded himself of the influence of the spirits. The set, designed and built by the drama class, depicted the living room of a British middle-class home. Besides ~hose participat- ing in acting and set designing, many stu- dents were also active in prompting, pub- licity, art work, lighting, and sound effects, all of which added to the excellence of the production. Under the superb guidance of Rudy Strading e r, the performances of BLITHE SPIRIT were indeed memorable.
