What exactly is cross coun– try? This question echoed in the minds of many students. This sport was often confused with track, but the two actually had very few similarities. Cross Coun– try was run on varying courses; uphill and downhill as well as flat land. Members of the cross coun– try teammet everyday after school and ran roughly three miles dur– ing each practice to prepare for meets. Joining the cross country team was a major commitment, but the teammates agreed that the results were well worth it. The sport not only conditioned the ath– letes, but it provided for a fun and successful season. SWI GING FOR THE FENCE Haley Woodall dashes past spirited fans. The fans helped raise team confidence.
