Odis Michalk Back Freshman 150 lbs. 1 letter Ruben Garcia Back Sophomore 125 lbs. 1 letter Kingsville-22 Laredo-7 After losing six straight games, the Kings– ville Brahmas defeated the Laredo Tigers 22-7 in A&I Stadium on October 21. It was the first conference game of the season for both teams. S, P. Valdez, who hadjust recovered from an injury, played his first game this season and did a fine job. The Tigers kicked off to the Bulls and Jack Whitaker took the b a 11 on his own eight– yard line. Kicking to Jack proved to be a mistake for the Tigers, as he ran up th middle, cut to the left, and went all the way behind beautiful blocking. The Tigers led briefly in the third quarter, 7-6. But touchdowns by Clyde Falvella and Denny Marsters and a safety by a charging Brah– ma line made the final score 22-7. Captain for the game was S. P. Valdez. Kingsville -47 Sidney Lanier-0 Winning their second game in a row, the Kingsville Brahmas overpowered the Sid– ney Lanier Voks of San Antonio in A &I Stadium on October 28. The Brahmas did not score until the second quarter. Mar– sters made the first score on a 19 yard dash around right end. A few minutes later, Marsters passed to Alexander for the second touchdown. Tommy McDaniel ac– counted for the final score before the half, making the half-time score 20-0, Kings– ville. The first score of the second half came on a 22-yard pass from Marsters to Clark. McDaniel scored the fifth touch– down of the game a few minutes later. Highlight of the game came a few minutes later when 125 pound Ruben Garcia carried the ball twice, going over for the score on the second try. S. P.
