Heads up, big smiles, legs flying high, all bodies in unison- The Viewmont Vykettes, 36 dedicated girls– Marching in the rain, practicing in the cold, doing splits in the mud, receiving an instant tan- Constantly perfecting, six o'clock morning practices become routine- Interested in each other, mouths moving as fast as the legs- Head flips and flying Drill Team curlers, plastic bags keeping the hair from rain- Always striving for the best, especially around boys- Drilling and drilling for competition, then performing perfectly- Staying behind to practice some more- Constantly late for second period- The Drill Team- Sacrificing everything for a good performance - Bruised knees, pulled muscles- And the joy of conquering the splits and oneself. 29
