Mrs. Hixson Mrs. Porker Mrs. Stapley Mrs. Huffaker Mrs. Burnham Secretaries Phones ringing, typewriters clicking– The ladies of the office kept Viewmont High School together- Answering buzzers which had been accidentally pushed - Making receipts for money and then re– funding it- Organizing everything – Accounting for every cent that was spent or received- Preparing endless piles of supply orders- Making constant phone calls each day to check-up on students- Taking care of all correspondence- Coming early and staying late- Working but receiving little praise- Handling computers and duplicating machines- Sending report cards to every first period class- The secretaries provided the essential ingredients for oil- ing the complicated machinery of Viewmont. 63
