At the beginning of the course, they were tested to determine their weaknesses in order to find where the most stress should be placed. When this was deter– mined, the students entered their progressive weight resistance pro– gram. This basic weight program continued for a period of twenty-two lessons during which time the boys worked with their own body weight. Along with this phase of their training, the students played formal and informal games. They also held interclass competition in league sports during their seasons. This gave the boys an opportunity to take an ac– tive part in these sports as members of their class. Among the league sports in which they participated were wrestling, basketball, football, and softball. In the spring, they prepared for the presentation of the Gym Jamboree where they displayed their progress and skill to an ap– preciative audience of friends and parents.
