32 Girls' Phvsical Education Mrs. Marjorie Dahlstrom Health, Physiology Mrs. Velma Ellertson Gym Miss Tanya Dillman Gym The Girls ' Physical Education program included a recreational and physical fitness program. Early in the course the girls were drilled in softball, and track. During the winter months, the girls perfected their skill in table tennis, dart volleyball, basketball, deck tennis, and folk and modern dancing. Calesthenics accompanied their vigorous sports training. These exercises, taken at the beginning of class, were designed not only to warm the girls up for class activity, but also to improve their figures. As Spring became a realization, preparations for the annual Gym Jamboree began. The program featured intricate dances and nu– merous games and skills performed before an audience of parents and friends. With the completion of the Jamboree, the girls turned their at– tention to the mastery of archery. During the course of the year, tourna– ments were conducted which determined class champions in all sports. This department helped develop the poise, skill, and physical fitness of every girl who really wanted and honestly tried to improve herself.
