THE MILITARY YEAR AT THE BEGI I G f the academic year 19 5-46, the Manlius Battalion had an enr ll– ment of 354 cadets, of whom 301 were eligible for the R.O.T. . unit, the remainder being largely under-age boys and those from foreign countrie . Although the unit boa ted a fairly normal complement, the number of enrollee this year wa slightly under that of last year. Returning old boy were urprised to find many changes in the military department, the main alteration being the appointment of a new Profe or of Military cience and Tactics. Because of Lt. ol. William H. ollette' ' ell-earned retirement, a newcomer to the chool, Lieutenant olonel Ralph Al paugh had been assigned there p n ibilities of carrying n military instruction of the Corp .
