Becau e now conditions were poor and becau e ki ea on wa o hort thi year, the team competed in only four meet . The train– ing ea on wa comparatively long, but the ab ence of good competition during the winter month wa the prime factor affecting the ucces of the eason a a whole. During the pa t fall, orne of the kiers built a 32-metre jump on the Chittenango hill. It was a great addition to training and provided much exciting jumping throughout the winter. All con– truction and planning were done by the kier them elve . On February 15 the team made it annual training trip to Lake Placid. The team practiced on Mt. Whitney and Mt. Jo downhill trail . Much valuable experience was ained by the boy , who proved their worth later on in competition. The fir t meet, February 12, wa an informal lalom race with Colgate Univer ity team -Man– liu I 00, olgate 83. On February 22 the team raced downhill and lalom at Old Forge, wmning the lalom and placing well in the downhill. A day later the team took high honor in a downhill race at Turin, N .Y., fini hing econd, third, fifth, and ixth place . A week later, in another meet with olgate, Manlius came out on top, 100-75. A trophy cup for the lalom race at Old For e wa pre ented to the team at the clo e of the ea– on.
