WINTER CARNIVAL THE BIGGEST EVENT of the school year, the Winter Carnival, was held on the week-end of the eighth, ninth, and tenth of February, for the relaxation and enjoyment of the Battalion. This year the affair was especially important because of the cancellation of the carnival a year ago. This made for an increase in the number of cadets who attended, for previously many had never witnessed the gayest and most spectacular of school entertain– ments. It took a good-sized committee to plan and operate the affair, chieAy cadet officers. Guests arrived late Friday afternoon, met their escorts and were shown to their rooms in Thomson Hall, the occupants of which temporarily resided in the other barracks. That evening the girls joined their dates in regular battalion formation and marched into the mess hall for mess. After supper everyone witnessed a play in Knox Hall pre– sented by Punchinello and then repaired to the gym to attend a basketball game against Oswego. The evening was further enjoyed because of our victory over the invading team. After the game the cadets and girls either attended the movie or partook of refreshments and informal dancing at the King Club. The next morning after breakfast the couples took part in an informal track meet on the King Club field. With snow so scarce, the ski races were performed on foot over slip– pery ground, which proved even more exciting and interesting. Leaving noon mess, the co-ed battalion watched the defeat of the officers' team at the hands of the faculty five in a special basketball game that brought many a laugh from the crowd.
