The name HAY EEDER wa a carr} -over from Ia t year. The primary purpo e of thi silly ymphony wa to bring color and variety to the home ba ket– ball game . Thi they did without a doubt. Attired in grue orne garment , ranging from a zoot- uit to typical back-on-the-farm clothing, the HAY EEDER graced the balcony of the Dodge Gymna ium during every home game. Concert were given before each game for the benefit of all mu ic ( ?) lover who could stand the racket. The in ane in trumentali t who made up thi little group were: "Willin Willie" Merz on the slu h pump; "Egglebeater" Egglefield, "Pa tafazool" Har ell, and "Eager Beaver" Egan on trum– pet ; "Pugnaciou " Pratt, "Moody" Parker, and "Boog" Blake lee on the liconce tick; 'Dave the Brave" Freeman, and "Big Deal" Finke on axophone; " oak 'Em" lo urn, "Mu de " haye , and "Poop ie" Pelton banging the cymbal and ba and nare drum , and Granger "The Ranger," who gave the signal to go and then tooted his own merry way on the baritone. May they all re t in peace. SWING BAND AFTER A YEAR of relative inactivity, the wing Band wa revived in force under the able leader- hip of Lieutenant Cardany. Thi year' aggregation of even men contained three axe , one trum– pet, drum , ba fiddle, and piano. They played at two chool dances, at the February commencement hop at the Manliu High hoot, and the football banquet in yracu e. Member of the organization were: Lt. Cardany, piano; Pete Pratt and Dave Freeman, alto axaphone; huck Lav.l i s, tenor sax– aphone; Duke Harder, ba viol, and Bob LaDelfa, drum . Mac herwood later jomcd the band with hi tenor sax.
