Major General ANDREW P. IOSUE Commander Air Force Military Training Center General Iosue received his commission in 1951 through the University of Massachusetts Air Force Reserve Officers Training Program (AFROTC) where he received a bachelor of science degree in bacteriology. He entered active service in July 1951 as a Medical Service Officer, with primary duty as a bacteriologist assigned to Westover AFB MA. The following year he received training in pararescue techniques and was awarded the parachutist badge. In 1954 General Iosue graduated from pilot training and was assigned to the 36th Air Rescue Squadron, Johnson Air Force Base, Japan. From July 1957 to July of 1966, General Iosue served as an AFROTC instructor at Cornell University, Management Analyst with the 354th Tactical Fighter Wing, Myrtle Beach AFB, and C-130 instructor pilot and Chief of Wing Training with the 317th Troop Carrier Wing, Lockbourne AFB, Ohio. In 1966 General Iosue was assigned as Chief of the Rated Officer Assignment Section of the Air Force Military Personnel Center, Randolph AFB, Texas, where he remained until assignment to the 504th Tactical Air Support Group, Cam Ranh Bay, Republic of Vietnam in July 1970 when he commanded Forward Air Controllers in Southeast Asia. In May 1971 he assumed command of the 374th Tactical Airlift Wing at Ching Chuan Kang Air Base, Republic of China. During this assignment General Iosue was involved in the development and implementation of a C-130 low-level drop system in support of An Loc, Republic of Vietnam, during May of 1972. He flew more than 200 combat missions while in Southeast Asia, and flew the first U.S. Air Force aircraft to land at Gia Lam airport in Hanoi to support repatriation of American prisoners of war. From June 1973 until July 1975, he served as Deputy Director, then Director of Personnel Programs for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel at Headquarters, United States Air Force. He assumed command of the U.S. Air Force Recruiting Service in July 1975 where he remained until his assignment as Commander, Air Force Military Training Center in September 1976. His military decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters, Distin- guished Flying Cross with one oak leaf cluster, Air Medal with four oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. ·
