Some people are labeled as
natural born athletes, while
others are acclaimed as being
well trained. For Jay Williams,
the drive to become an
outstanding athlete is natural,
especially since his dad is one
of the winningest track
coaches in Northeast
Louisiana.
Getting to play on the
varsity squad as a sophomore

but to be starting quarterback
as a sophomore is a feat.
Jay, whose sports career
began in the fifth grade,
played football at WMJHS.
" When I was in the fifth and
sixth grades, the guys I hung
around with all played football ,
and they talked me into
coming out," he explained.
Crediting his father for his
encouragement, Jay said, " He
is the person who has really
kept me going. He can always
find the perfect time."
But even though he had
established himself as an
athlete in only his first year
here, Jay' s life is not focused
on athletics, as he is
interested in outdoor activities,
such as hunting and fishing,
and in music.
