The 77-78 school year

was good for some and

disastrous for others.

Students were greeted

with a "tough, new disci–

pline policy" in Septem–

ber. It included defini–

tions and classifications

of offenses and their

punishments. ln-build–

ing-suspension, better

known as IBS, was an

important part of this

policy. Headlines in the

Evening Press read,

"With school rules clear,

harmony returns to CV"

and "Harmony reigns

again at CV."

This was also a year of

sports. The TC Jets were

undefeated with a record

of 12-0. The CV Varsity

football team showed

Vestal that last year's

win was no accident with

a 12-8 victory this year.

THIS WAS A YEAR

Soccer was added to the

curriculum. The Yankees

won their 1OOth World

Series game on the way

to a World Series victory

over Los Angeles. The

Dallas Cowboys won the

Superbowl.

Socially, The Grateful

Dead, Jethro Tull, Fleet–

wood Mac, Heart, Blue

Oyster Cult, and The

Gong

Roadshow

appeared at the Veter–

an's Memorial Arena.

This year's big movies

were

Star Wars

and

Rocky,

ldi Amin con–

ducted a reign of terror,

the Concorde swooped

down on New York City,

and the nation's coal

workers went on strike.

All of these events

helped shape the school

year. This was really a

year!
