SOCCER
After a ::.low start ,when they lost two of our first three
league games, the N. H. S. soccer team, guided by Coach
Frank Nelson, did a complete about face and won four of
the last five games played.
There were 26 boys out for soccer, w1th only four
veterans making the starling team. The squad was aided
greatly by the presence of three Reed Farm boys-Piuscht,
Panoff and Lubinsky- who led the team in scoring with
17
points among them.
Congers again won the championship by going un–
defeated, beating Nyack twice by 1·0 and 3-1 counts. We
split with Pearl River but defeated Spring Valley and Stony
Point two times each to finish with a 5-3 record. The first
win over the Spring Valley Tigers was a major step in
bringing Nyack home second.
Like most athletic teams, the booters came up with a
number of individual stars. The D'Agostino brothers,
Roger and Don, along with Oleg Panoff, who is regarded
by many as the outstanding player in the county, made
the first-string all-County team. Placed on the second team
were Art Hyman, Gennady Lubinsky, and Captain Rudy
Ramcke. Jim Gulezian, Jerry Gross . and Vassily Pluscht
received honorable mention.
